In this course, you will gain the practical skills and knowledge needed to safely load, unload, and secure cargo and goods for transport in accordance with Australian law. Covering two nationally recognised units, TLIA1001 Secure Cargo and TLID0015 Load and Unload Goods/Cargo this course is ideal if you are a driver, warehouse worker, or logistics operator who is responsible for ensuring loads are safe, legal, and properly restrained for transit. You will learn how to select the right restraint equipment, apply correct tie-down and lashing techniques, plan and prepare loads in line with mass and dimension requirements, and complete all required workplace documentation. Once you successfully complete the course, you will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment, demonstrating your competency and supporting your Chain of Responsibility obligations in the workplace.

Course Overview

The TLIA1001 Secure Cargo and TLID0015 Load and Unload Goods/Cargo are nationally recognised units of competency designed for individuals who are required to safely load, unload, and secure cargo and goods for transport. These units provide the essential knowledge and practical skills required to restrain loads correctly and ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation and the National Load Restraint Guide.
This course is ideal for truck drivers, warehouse staff, logistics operators, and anyone involved in the movement or transportation of goods who is responsible for ensuring loads are safe, legal, and secure for transit.

Course Content

Training covers a comprehensive range of load restraint responsibilities and procedures, including:

  • Interpreting and applying relevant transport legislation, regulations, and permit requirements
  • Identifying load characteristics, hazards, and mass and dimension requirements
  • Planning and preparing for safe loading and unloading activities
  • Selecting and using appropriate load restraint systems, tie-downs, chains, and straps
  • Applying direct and tie-down restraint techniques in accordance with the National Load Restraint Guide
  • Protecting cargo from weather and damage during transit
  • Packing, unpacking, lashing, and unlashing cargo safely
  • Completing all required workplace documentation and load records

The units are drawn from the Transport and Logistics Training Package (TLI), ensuring alignment with national Chain of Responsibility standards and contemporary industry practices.

Successful participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for TLIA1001 – Secure Cargo and TLID0015 – Load and Unload Goods/Cargo, recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and valued across all industries involved in the transport, logistics, warehousing, and distribution of goods.
