RIIWHS202E – Enter and work in confined space
Enter and work in confined space
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to safely enter and work in confined spaces (e.g. tanks, pits, silos) across the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. Training covers planning, hazard identification, atmospheric monitoring, correct use of PPE, applying lock-out/tag-out procedures, and maintaining communication with a stand-by person as per the Confined Space Entry Permit.
Course Overview
This nationally recognised course provides the skills and knowledge to safely enter and work in confined spaces, conduct gas testing, and work under a permit system in accordance with Australian WHS legislation. Participants will gain three units of competency commonly required for site access across the Resources and Infrastructure, Construction, and Manufacturing industries.
Units of Competency:
- RIIWHS202E – Enter and work in confined spaces
- MSMWHS217 – Gas test atmospheres
- MSMPER200 – Work in accordance with an issued permit
Duration & Delivery
- Duration: 1 day (theory and practical)
- Delivery: Face-to-face
- Certification: Statement of Attainment for all three units
- Refresher: Recommended every 2 years or as per site requirements
